Do it now
Free for up to 20 files and 60 pages, every feature enabled. Nothing leaves your machine — the PDFs are opened and written in the browser, and you can disconnect the network and watch it still work.
Open the tool. The exhibit layer is already on and numbering is off, so the only thing that gets stamped is the sticker.
Drag in your PDFs. The order of the list is the order of the labels, so drag a row to move it before you stamp.
Choose A, B, C or 1, 2, 3, edit the template (the default is EXHIBIT {label}), and set the corner and the inset.
Run it. Every file is written out with its label, plus a manifest CSV recording which label landed on which document.
How it actually works
One label per file, not per page
An exhibit sticker identifies a document, so by default it goes on the first page of each file and the letter advances at the file boundary: the first PDF is EXHIBIT A, the second is EXHIBIT B, and so on down the queue. If your court wants the label repeated on every page, switch the exhibit layer from first page to all pages and the same label repeats through that document before the next letter starts.
Past Z the labels continue AA, AB, AC — spreadsheet-column style — so a set of forty exhibits does not run out of alphabet.
Why the sticker is text and not an image
Most tools that "add a sticker" stamp a bitmap. That is fine for a printout and wrong for a production: the label cannot be found with Ctrl+F, an e-discovery platform cannot index it, and it turns a clean vector page into something noticeably heavier. Here the label is drawn as a text object using the PDF standard-14 fonts, which also means the output carries no embedded font bytes.
Where it lands on a rotated or cropped page
A sticker is placed against each page’s own crop box and its rotation value, measured page by page. That matters for the two cases that break naive tools: a scan whose crop box is much smaller than the media box, where a label placed against the page edge lands off the visible paper; and a page with a rotation of 90 or 270, where the coordinate lower right is not the corner the reader sees. Mixed Letter, Legal, A4 and oversized drawing pages in one set are handled individually.
A label that would fall within a quarter inch of the trim edge raises a print-safety warning before the run, because that is the one that gets cut off at the copy shop.
Stickers and Bates numbers in the same pass
Exhibit labels, Bates numbers and confidentiality legends are three independent layers with their own corner, font, size, colour and page range. If the same set needs a sticker on the first page and a continuous number on every page, turn the numbering layer back on and both are written in one pass — you do not run the batch twice, and the manifest records the exhibit label alongside the BegBates and EndBates for each document.
What you get back
The stamped PDFs, written to a folder you pick or to a ZIP if your browser cannot write to a folder directly. Alongside them: a manifest CSV listing each source file, its output name, the exhibit label, the page count and a SHA-256 of the bytes that were written. That last column is what lets you prove months later that the file in the case folder is the file you produced.
